is a
charitable trust, which was born in
Telford, Shropshire continues to provide help and support to
poor communities in the developing world.
We will
have a number of events and activities going throughout the year, so
please come back and see what we will be doing next!
The 'Shropshire Open Charity Golf
Day' in association with O.L.O.R. Dev. Fund. on 21st May was a great
success
ECUADOR:
we work in partnership with small recognised
organisations in Ecuador and together we work with the poorest of
the poor to improve their quality of life and to provide them with
opportunities to break free from poverty. We are involved in a number of projects there!
In Nueva Prosperina
on the outskirts of Guayaquil, we helped to rebuild a primary/secondary
school which has 620 children attending. We have replaced these 6
bamboo classrooms which house 350 of those infants in
both the rainy and hot seasons with all the problems that they
bring............
.............with a 2 storey concrete block of classrooms - costing £35,000
and it was with great pleasure that we handed over the
funds direct to some of the teachers and students who were in the UK to meet the people who are helping them! The building
work was completed in time for the start of term, and the new school
was inaugurated in April - the pupils and teachers are loving their
new classrooms!
Also in Nueva Prosperina
we are helping to relocate medical facilities from within the school.
Building
is now underway to provide a much needed medical centre close
by,
which will
serve the shanty town community and we expect it to be completed and
ready for use by early autumn.
It
will
be serviced by more than the current single doctor, which will enable
it
to provide health care to many more
people than at present. In due course, it will look
to
introduce primary health care programmes to the people it serves.
Whilst this will complete our building projects in this country, we
will continue to support the Medical Centre and the facilities it
needs.
We would
like to express our grateful thanks to the Burton Borough Secondary
School in
Newport, Shropshire, who have raised
£15,000 towards the total cost of
£45,000 for this project!

'Veronica's
Travels'
We
aim to raise£70,000to complete our current projects and
other smaller initiatives and would greatly appreciate any help you can
give!
Africa:
we are currently exploring a
number of options with local charities in Zimbabwe, Nigeria and
Sierra Leone to determine which projects we will commence when
the Medical Centre in Ecuador is complete, and we will update
our site with those details as soon as they become available.
Our Rich Man Poor Man 3 dinner
will be taking place on Friday 15th October at Stirchley All Saints
Shared church from 7pm 'til late
